In addition to traditional appraisal and consulting services, Linzey Appraisal
Associates, LLC also provides a fun and interactive forum for learning about your
collections.  A Home Appraisal party is an informal and entertaining event for your
friends and family that is also an educational experience for all.

WHY HOST A HOME PARTY?

Home parties are a growing form of entertainment in a variety of fields.  They provide
an opportunity for groups of friends to get together in a structured environment for
education and entertainment.

A home appraisal party by Linzey Appraisal Associates, LLC, allows guests to learn
more about a family heirloom or item they picked up at a garage sale, etc., without
expending the greater fees associated with a full appraisal report.  Many clients
would like to learn more about something they own, but do not need a full written
appraisal.  Others would like to know if the value of their object justifies a full written
appraisal.  The home party atmosphere allows them to make these determinations,
as well as socialize with friends, old and new, and learn more about the world of
appraising and collecting.

The host of a home appraisal party not only gets to create an evening of diversion for
friends, but can have his or her own item evaluated at no cost!

HOW A HOME PARTY WORKS

When clients decide to host a home party for family and friends, Katherine Linzey will
come to their homes where their guests will bring items they are interested in
knowing more about.  This could include fine art, antiques, porcelain, silver, glass or
one-of-a-kind pieces (sorry, no jewelry).

The evening will begin with a presentation about the appraisal field, the reasons one
might need or want an appraisal, the types of values that can be determined, and the
procedures for the rest of the night.

After this presentation, guests will mingle while one at a time, each will meet with
Ms. Linzey to discuss their item(s).  Guests are encouraged to submit information
about their items to Ms. Linzey before the event so that she may provide a more
complete analysis, however if any guest is not able to do so, she will be very happy to
assess the item on-site the day of the event..  After meeting with each guest, Ms.
Linzey will share the results with the group, including description and history of each
item.  This allows everyone to learn something new about a variety of subjects.
Determined value can be made public or shared only with the item’s owner at that
owner’s discretion.

The fees involved are $20.00 per item for guests.  Evaluation of one item is
complimentary for party hosts.  If any guest decides to proceed with a full written
appraisal report for his or her item, or any other items they may own, the fees paid at
the home party will be deducted from the appraisal fees when the contract is
negotiated.  If any guest does not have an item they would like to have appraised, but
would still like to attend the party and hear about the world of appraising, they may do
so at no cost.
